Perplexed

1. Why do people ask questions that they do not want the answer to?

2. Why do some people text and not call?

3. Why is it OK to text someone in the middle of the night and wrong to call someone in the middle of the night?

4. Is it "purpose for" something or "purpose of" something?

5. Why is my boss so confused?

6. Why doesn't Fortune 500 like trying out new restaurant?

7. Why does my secretary kill every plant I buy her? (including the cactus?)

8. Why do I hate apple pie with cinnamon but cannot stand a pumpkin pie without cinnamon?

9. Why do I drink so much coffee?

10. Why is everyone pregnant at work?

11. Why hasn't Mr. Hollywood made any decent movie in past 10 years?

12. And why oh why can't I get a reservation at Momofuku Ko?

1. Most people don't always think before they ask a question, and when they do, sometimes they hope the answer is not the one that they already know.
2. It's the non-personalization of our society. Less interaction is always better....And we wonder why people can't get along?
3. It's NEVER ok to text someone in the middle of the night.
4. BOTH. The "purpose for" you buying the merry widow with stockings and Christian Louboutin stilettos is to stimulate and/or set the mood for your date. The "purpose of" you wearing only them as you walk across the room with a martini in your hand, is to see the good mood your date is now in, and hence, said stimualtion in his eyes.
5. A lack of focus.
6. ????
7.Some people have a certain "touch".
8. Taste is a fickled beast. Why do people love ketchup, but hate tomatoes? I'm not a fan of Hershey's chocolate syrup, but applied on the right.........well, you get the message.
9. Habit
10. Less money to go out on the town, so the party happens at home.
11. A decent movie for you is one that you want to see again. A decent movie for him is one that pays.
12. I am seriously confounded by this question. If I own "Ko", I'd want you around as often as possible. If I'm eating there, you'd have a place at my table. No need for reservations.

About texting and not calling...calling requires my full attention. It's a real conversation that happens in real time and it takes real energy. Sometimes, I'm just not in the mood to have a full on conversation. So texting is a happy medium.

Calling someone in the middle of the night: Dave's wrong on this one. Texting is akin to leaving a voice message, except you don't bother the person with a ringing cellphone: instead it's just a half second blip.
